I was born in Morocco and live in Toulouse, France and Brooklyn, New York.

I earned a masters degree at the Art & Business Institute of Paris.

After a long career at HR and Corp University VP, I started painting in 2002 and it has rapidly become my main activity, along with the promotion of local visual artists.

Artist Statement:

SOURCE OF INSPIRATION

The weight of history is important and it is added to my paintings in successive layers.

·       The surprised people facing grandiose terrestrial phenomena such as volcanoes, lava flows, meteorites, statues of rough stone.

·       The exit- or Yatzia - of Egypt, of Jerusalem, of Spain, of Morocco and of Catalonia: places of bright colours and with many contrasts.

.       The key masters painting Venus and other Graces... but with female bodies free of the
aesthetic canons dictated by males

SENSATIONS

A painting is finished when one day, I wake up, and the passion I experienced with my work is only a gentle memory.

I reach my goal when a spectator doesn't just walk past my painting, but actually stops, intrigued by the implicit clues that are discernible through the variant shapes displayed.

I try to transmit the emotion of the magical moment with a secretive wink with the spectator.

Some repetitive themes:

·       The indiscreet peeping on a woman behind a window, or in the darkness of a bar.

·       Nature is present in my art; but a nature the spectator cannot see, that he neglects.

I also like to transcribe magical moments, like in the clichés of Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa or Arthur Tress.

At the present moment, I am leading the artistic experiences that I could have lived at 45 years ago in Barcelona, Spain: a possible meeting with Tapies and Picasso at Els 4 gats, but also a virtual meeting with Arte Povera artists or Pollock, Dubuffet, Rothko, Richter and the Gutai painters.

METHODS

I like working with many layers of material, especially in these urbanized cities, whose rubble is used as a foundation for the buildings in my paintings.

In my art, there are lots of different materials: marble, sand, dirt, brick, collages, bark, straw, cork and others.

The colours that dominate my work are deep blue, symbol of the night and of outer space.

The earthy colours intervene to remind us of the foundation of our existence.
